Housing Counseling -Foreclosure Assistance's

Since 2001, United Neighbors has been a HUD-approved Housing Counseling Agency. We assist homeowners who are facing possible foreclosure by providing information and guidance as to the options that are available. The housing crisis in America is seriously impacting thousands of Iowans. As a growing number of our citizens face foreclosure, we have convened a group of public and private agencies to enhance existing counseling services by increasing the capacity of counseling agencies to serve more individuals. Our goal is to motivate homeowners to seek help by calling United Neighbors at 563-322-7363 or Iowa Mortgage Help Hotline at 877-622-4866. Around Iowa, thousands of people just like you are struggling to pay the mortgage. These are good, hard-working Iowans who, for any number of reasons, are facing financial difficulties that make it difficult or impossible to repay their home loan Some Iowans are facing mounting healthcare costs Some Iowans are coping with a job loss Some Iowans have an adjustable rate mortgage that has re-set to an unmanageable interest rate No matter the reason for your financial challenges, the Iowa Mortgage Help* initiative is here to assist you. Whether you are currently behind on your monthly mortgage payment, or if you may soon experience financial trouble, call for help now. United Neighbors along with several credible public and private organizations and businesses teamed up to create the Iowa Mortgage Help initiative. With the assistance of a federal grant, this group is committed to making Iowans aware of free mortgage counseling resources to help them achieve the best possible solution to their individual financial situation.

What is "Making Home Affordable" all about? The Making Home Affordable Program is part of the Ob ama Administration's broad, comprehensive strategy to get the economy and the housing market back on track. The Making Home Affordable Program offers strong options for homeowners: (1) refinancing mortgage loans through the Home Affordable Refinance Program (HARP), (2) modifying first and second mortgage loans through the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP) and the Second Lien Modification Program (2MP) and (3) offering other alternatives to foreclosure through the Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives Program (HAFA)

Home Affordable Refinance--This option can help you refinance into a more affordable mortgage if you're paying your mortgage on time but you're unable to refinance to a lower rate because you owe more on your mortgage than your home is currently worth.

Home Affordable Modification--This option can help you get mortgage payments you can afford if you're delinquent in making your monthly mortgage payments, in the foreclosure process, or current on your payments but have recently experienced hardship and you are about to miss a payment.

To get help using the Making Home Affordable Program, call your lender right away. (Your lender is the company to whom you make your mortgage payments. A lender can also be called a "service.") Use the customer service contact information located on your mortgage statement
